Rebuild and Transform Housing

Our Tory government has shamefully neglected the country’s housing needs.  Millions are now forced to live in overcrowded conditions with several generations sharing one house.  People sofa-surf in friends’ houses.  Thousands are forced to live on the streets or at best, in hostels.

Tenants live with the nightmare of not knowing if their family will be ousted when their six and twelve months tenancy contracts run out.  Our existing housing stock is inadequate and the majority of homes and flats have not been built to take advantage of modern, energy saving technology.

The next Labour government will change all this.   There will be a house build on a scale not seen since 1945 with energy saving technology at the fore.   A half a million council houses will be built with lifelong tenancies ensured.   A further half million houses will provide homes that ordinary people really can afford to rent or buy.  There will be rent caps on private landlords and three year tenancy contracts will be  introduced.

Only Labour with Jeremy Corbyn as our Prime Minister will ensure houses for all our people.
